RC, the latest thing to be taking up my time (and money). I used to mess with RC cars when I was younger, so learning the basics of RC flight was maybe easier than it could have been. I started RC flight with helicopters, and as several of my club mates fly aeroplanes as well, I ended up with fixed and rotary wing fighting for my air time. I now enjoy both equally, fixed wing flight is in my view more simple, and so more relaxing. Helicopters come with a natural instability that makes them a little more challenging, as well as the fact that the direction in which you point, isn't always the direction in which you are moving. That single fact makes helis harder to fly in my view. Current big project is the build of the Gangster 2000. Find it here!! The one thing all the models have in common is the Transmitter. I use a JR DSX9 for everything, with JR and Spektrum receivers in various models. Programming isn't intuitive to start, but very good once you get used to it.
The Wot4 was my 'first go' at an aeroplane with wheels, very nice to fly (after the prop was changed from stock 11x8 to a 12x6). The landing gear was ripped off along with a section of the battery bay (was a bit late pulling out of a spiral dive), but using a bit of ply and some foam safe cyano, then the landing gear bolted through to the receiver/servo bay and its as good as new now.
Onboard flight vid with the wot4, I will remount the camera at some point so I don't get the lines any more. The 2 deltawings, based on a Great Planes Slinger and the JP Zagi respectively.
A go at onboard with the delta, first flight is over the edge of the moor, second one over at the TVMFC site. Quality is a little better as the prop isn't in the way (its a pusher). New winglets are done, it still shows a tiny bit of yaw, but nothing that I am worried about. The Gangster 62 built from kit, currently running an SC52 Fourstroke, with plans to change to a Webra .61 (already in stock) once I change the motor mount.
Bit of flight vid on the Gangster, its quite short as it was only a test, result? Too much vibration! (Damn 4 strokes). The de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk, OS 4 Stroke Nitro motor up front.
2 meter powered glider, Phoenix Models Breeze, running a 1100KV motor on 3S lipo with 10x6 folding prop.
The Blaze foam hotliner. Nice sedate entry in the 'warmliner' foamie style category.
The T-Rex 250, spritely little bugger, and has a tendancy to become a dot far to fast for my liking.
The T-Rex 450 with Hughes MD500 scale body, and the T-Rex 450 Pro.
The T-Rex 600, the beater.
X-Cell Spectra Gasser, been problematic lately, but a real presence in the air.
