Gangster 2000 Build Log I have recently started work on my first scratch build aeroplane. I have a Gangster 62 and like the way it flies so much, I am making a 133% scale model of it as my first build. Construction will be Balsa and Ply with Ash wing spars then covered in monocote or similar. Motor is looking like it will be an Evolution 26GT 2 Stroke petrol, I'll keep this page updated with progress. The Current Gangster 62
Most of the CAD work is done now, I still need to draw out the bulkheads for the fuselage, and then I can cut out the fuselage panels as well. Wing has been dry fitted. Next Job: Complete CAD work on fuselage and cut out side pannels and bulkheads. CNC cutting ribs out after drawing them out in Compufoil and modifying a little, they are coming out of 3mm quarter sawn balsa sheet. ![]()
Above ribs, ready to cut out of the tabs and clean up.
Still short of rear spar and noseing, wanted to set the wing out dry though, just to see what it looks like.
Made a start on gluing it up today.
Still need to do the Top rear spar, then leading edge sheeting and capping. After that I need to start thinking about how to mount the locating dowels and blocks to take the servos/landing gear.
Feeling guilty about the lack of progress at the moment, bit busy at work, and mainly doing CAD stuff on the fuselage. Token pic of the blocks for the flap/aileron hinges, dowels/rear wing bolts and the Servo trays.
Motor has arrived now, got a test bed sorted out, will run it up and start running in.
